November 2025 | Lviv, Ukraine
Veteran Rehab Center, Galicyna
I had the opportunity to join one of my teachers, Sharon Wheeler (center person in the picture above) in Lviv, Ukraine providing post surgical care to front line soldiers recovering from war related injuries. An experience that brought clarity to my work and a shift in priorities for my career moving forward.
What is next:
I hope to make this volunteer work a standard in my practice. To provide healing touch to people in conflict zones or as one of my dear clients said “healers with out borders”. As we know modern medical intervention saves lives and can be brutal on the tissue of the body. When we do not address the physical trauma that many patients face we see a higher susceptibility to chronic pain, secondary injuries, and decreased quality of life that can lead to prolonged health challenges, addiction, and community isolation (VA health Policy Report 2023). A major goal of this grassroots organizing is to help soldiers immediately after major injury/surgery to feel better in their body through presence, gentle touch of the injuries/scar tissue, and fascial re-integration. To help bolsters the bodies healing processes by supporting ones innate and adaptive neurophysiology.
We have contact and safety secured in Ukraine with members working in both Lviv and Kviv. We are in contact with providers in Gaza but have not secured safe locations to work. We have no other leads in other current conflict zones.
How you can Help:
* We are currently seeking more contacts with front line organizations. Please reach out if you have any leads to share.
* this is still a grass roots organization, so each provider funds themselves abroad. We are hoping to be adopted by a larger foundations who can sponsor this work and provide admin support and donation collecting. Please reach out if you have any leads or information to share.
* Donate any amount to help Claira fund their next round of work in Lviv, Ukraine in spring of 2027. LINK to DONATE
